This session will provide an overview of the life sciences asset class, including a detailed look at the most active cluster markets. The panel of industry experts will explore how life science buildings compare to traditional MOB’s - from a physical and operational standpoint, as well as from an investment perspective. We’ll also dive into the sector’s outlook for the future.
IAN ANDERSON
Senior Director of Research

Ian Anderson brings 20 years of commercial real estate and capital markets experience to his role as the Director of Research and Analysis for the Greater Philadelphia region. He is responsible for generating market insight and intelligence and ensuring that clients receive the most thorough, timely and strategic research information, in a way that guides decision making and identifies risks and opportunities. He also serves as a CBRE spokesperson on the commercial real estate environment.
Prior to this role, Mr. Anderson was the Director of Research for Grosvenor Fund Management in North America. His primary focus was to direct investment strategy by identifying the risks and opportunities of property sectors, metropolitan markets, and macroeconomic trends. During his tenure at Grosvenor, Mr. Anderson authored dozens of commercial real estate research reports, economic views, and market commentaries. Before joining Grosvenor, Mr. Anderson worked for a private residential developer and a community development financial institution.
Previously, Mr. Anderson worked for eight years at two of the largest mutual fund organizations in the U.S. His work focused on the sale and investment guidance for a variety of corporate retirement plan products.
John Cox

John Cox has been the Senior Vice President, Regional Market Director, Seattle for Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc since 2009. Prior to joining ARE, John was a broker for 24 years with Kidder Mathews with an emphasis on representing Life Science users. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from the University of Washington. Over his 35-year career, Mr. Cox has completed commercial real estate transactions encompassing in excess of 10 million square feet.
Ryan Egli

With over 16 years of real estate experience, Ryan Egli is a leader in his field, specifically Office and Life Sciences. Ryan currently serves as the Practice Leader for the San Diego Life Sciences Group at CBRE. Ryan focuses on providing sophisticated strategies to both owners and occupiers of office and laboratory space. Ryan has continually been a top performer at CBRE and has ranked in the CBRE San Diego Office Top 5 for the past 10 years.
Prior to joining CBRE, Ryan spent two and a half years as a commercial real estate broker at Colliers International (San Diego), and three years as a business consultant in IBM’s Supply Chain and Operational Solutions Practice.
Jamie Peschel

Jamie is a Managing Partner of Longfellow Real Estate Partners and jointly oversees all development, investment and operational activities at Longfellow. Since co-founding Longfellow in 2009, he has been responsible for growing the company through the execution of value-add and development projects in excess of 1,700,000 SF for institutional and commercial tenants. Under Jamie’s leadership, Longfellow has invested more than $250 million on behalf of institutional investors. In addition, Jamie has played an active role in the leasing activities of the firm, including work with companies ranging from newly-formed VC portfolio companies to major pharmaceutical companies and academic institutions. Jamie is a member of Longfellow’s investment committee.
Prior to forming Longfellow, Jamie held positions with the following organizations: RREEF Global Opportunity Funds, Accenture Strategy Practice
Jamie received his MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and an AB from Dartmouth College, where he was a member of the men’s varsity rowing team. He was also a 3-time member of the US National Rowing team. Jamie is a member of ULI and NAIOP. Outside of Longfellow, Jamie enjoys spending time with his wife, Courtney, and three children; playing golf; fly fishing and skiing in Montana.
Mike Dorris

Mr. Dorris has been our Senior Vice President - Life Science Estates since January 2020. He previously served as Vice President - Life Science Estates and was responsible for the leasing and development of Healthpeak’s Southern California life science portfolio. Prior to joining Healthpeak in May 2010, Mr. Dorris held various positions at Trammell Crow Company and Opus West, developing industrial and office properties throughout Southern California. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Eckerd College, a Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida, and a Master of Business Administration from Emory University.
